John Woodward has a lifelong interest with human movement. After taking a degree in psychology he researched into movement control at Nottingham University and afterward played and taught guitar. In 1985 he qualified as an F M Alexander Technique teacher after studying at the Alexander Teaching Associates College in London and with Don Burton in the Lake District.
Says John, “I’m not by nature a competitive runner but I’m not a fun-runner either. For me the most direct and honest way of exploring the principles of balance and good human body use is to run over difficult, rugged terrain barefoot - you either get it together or it hurts!”.
John’s Alexander Technique practice in Lancaster was established in 1985.

Janet Dutton runs for fun and fitness and the pleasure of being out in the fresh air, swims because she loves the water and rows because it is just about one of the best ways to spend your time when not running or swimming.
After a series of running injuries, and after the benefit of Alexander lessons throughout the 1990's, Janet decided to train as an Alexander Teacher in 2000. Now happily qualified Janet uses the technique in all her sporting activities and beyond. "Crossing the line is the beginning of a new adventure - absorb and enjoy the experience" says Janet. |
