Location title

The Village of Kirkby-in-Furness lies alongside the beautiful Duddon Estuary 2 miles south of the Lake District National Park. The area offers a stunning variety of running terrains both on and off road. The Duddon Estuary is a place where sky, sea and landscape sweep together to form a fantastic open space waiting to be explored. Try your first bare foot run across the sands and sea washed turf or discover the network of trails, woodland and quiet lanes of the surrounding countryside. Alternatively you can head for the more famous hills of Black Combe and Coniston Old Man.

La’al Barn was created as a labour of love by John Woodward (and friends) using local stone, ancient oak and pitch pine. When this small barn comes alive with people, voices and movement John’s vision of creating a space where individuals can explore who they are and how to discover their unfettered true potential comes to life.

Bashful Alley was established in 1989 by John Woodward as a teaching centre dedicated to exploring, understanding and developing the principles of the Alexander Technique. Hidden away down a cobbled alleyway the 17th century centre is a perfect venue for individual and group lessons in the Alexander Technique and running

The natural running course highly recommends delegates attending courses in the La’al Barn, Kirkby-in-Furness to enjoy the hospitality of the Ship Inn which is no more than 50 metres from the La’al Barn. Built in 1691 the Inn has been fully refurbished to offer accommodation, great beer and food with traditional Lakeland hospitality. Vegetarians are most welcome..
